It's official, Breaffy House Hotel regains four-star status

Breaffy House Hotel, located three kilometres from Castlebar, has announced that it has officially regained its 4 Star status from Fáilte Ireland.

The announcement is seen by management and staff as an endorsement of the substantial €3.5 million investment in the property over the past four years.

The property enhancements include upgrades to the 106 bedrooms with the addition of four Junior Suites, two executive suites and a new Bridal Suite, improvements to Breaffy Leisure Club and Spa, development of the South Terrace and a repointing of the magnificent 18th Century Victorian façade.

Significant investment also targeted the enrichment of the entire grounds encompassing new woodland walksways, the addition of a wonderful natural timber playground all of which are located on the 90-acre woodland estate which is Breaffy House Resort.

This cycle of development, started in Janaury 2015, was the catalyst which led to the regeneration of Breaffy House Hotel.

As Wilson Bird, Breaffy House Resort General Manager, said, “We are absolutely delighted to confirm that Breaffy House Hotel has successfully regained its 4 Star status.

“This accreditation is awarded by Fáilte Ireland in recognition of the high standard of product and service delivered by Breaffy House Hotel. With more than 20 years management in the hotel sector, this is by far my proudest moment and greatest achievement.

“I would like to thank all the management and staff of Breaffy House Resort whose hard work and dedication over the past several years have been instrumental in reaching this momentous occasion.

“This recognition comes at a time when we have completed only the first phase of our proposed enhancements at Breaffy House; we have ambitious plans with lots of further developments in the pipeline for Breaffy House.”

Breaffy House Hotel has a rich history amongst the people of Co. Mayo dating back to 1963 when the property was purchased and the hotel developed and opened by Una and Michael Lee.

The current ownership has been in place since 2014 and has overseen the re-development of Breaffy House Resort.
