Kate follows her grandmother's teaching footsteps

COLLEGE graduation is always a special event but one Mayo MIC graduate had a very special guest at her graduation day.

Kate Rushe from Mayo Abbey recently graduated as a primary teacher from Mary Immaculate College.

With her at the conferring ceremony was her 95-year-old grandmother, Mary Monaghan (nee Barnicle), who also graduated as a primary teacher from MIC in 1946.

Professor Eugene Wall, president of MIC, made a special presentation to Mary during the ceremony.
