Boat rescued after getting into difficulty 21 miles off Mayo coast

Ballyglass RNLI has reported the successful rescue of a boat which got into difficulty earlier today 21 miles off the north Mayo coastline.

In conjunction with MRSC Malin Head, brave volunteers raced to Ballyglass pier at 1.30 a.m. this morning and launched into the Atlantic ocean under the command of Allen Murray, Coxwain for the mission.

They arrived at the stricken vessle to find the crew in good health and the boat drifting with a lump of trawl wrapped in its propellor, thus disabling it and leaving it to the atlantic waves to steer it.

Ballyglass RNLI quickly got the boat under tow and headed home to Ballyglass at a steady pace on the calm sea.

They returned to base at around 7:30 a.m. and got the fishing boat safely to Ballyglass Pier.

Great credit is due to the members of Ballyglass RNLI for their outstanding work once again..
