Andy Moran's firm secures gym tenancy of new Mayo leisure facility

Mayo County Council has announced ‘The Movement’ as the new tenants of the gym and support elements of the new Lough Lannagh Leisure facility.

The Castlebar based gym sought to become a key tenant of the facility following an Expressions of Interest Competition earlier this year.

Mayo County Council have appointed an operations and facility manager to work alongside the staff of the current Castlebar Swimming Pool and The Movement staff.

Mayo County Council pool staff are eagerly awaiting the transition to the new facilities at Lough Lannagh where they will be able to continue their work in top class surroundings.

The swimming pool will be ran through the existing staffing structure of Mayo County Council. The gym element will be ran by Andy Moran’s ‘The Movement’.

Proprietor of ‘The Movement’, Mayo footballer Andy Moran, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to take over the tenancy of the gym facilities at the Lough Lannagh Leisure Facility.

"It is a proud day for the team at The Movement to be able to expand into a partnership with Mayo County Council and provide a high quality service to the people of Mayo within a top class facility which will be the envy of many across the country. We can’t wait to get up and running”.

The new state of the art facility comprises an eight lane competitive swimming pool, toddler learning pool, gym and aerobics studios, steam room, sauna and general purpose rooms.

The cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Councillor Blackie Gavin, welcomed the announcement. He said:“This facility is an important component in realising Mayo County Councils overall vision for Lough Lannagh as a nationally important centre of excellence for sports, sports tourism, recreational and adventure tourism.

"Lough Lannagh will be home to one of the best facilities in the West of Ireland and with a top sportsman like Andy Moran involved I have no doubt the gym will be one of the best around. I look forward to officially opening the new swimming pool and gym in early 2019.”

The new swimming pool and gym facility is finishing the final fit out and aims to open during Quarter 1 of 2019 and following the agreement between Mayo County Council and ‘The Movement’ full swimming pool and gym facilities will be available.
