Coal theft from elderly lady was lowest of the low

WORD has reached The Connaught Telegraph of the meanest of thefts - bags of coal stolen from an elderly lady in a rural part of west Mayo – over the past week.

The woman, who lives near Newport, discovered her supplies of coal had significantly dwindled when she checked her fuel shed early one morning.

Granted, the shed where the woman kept the coal was unlocked but that doesn't excuse one iota the callous and utterly selfish actions of whoever was responsible for the heist.

As crimes go, what happened to the Newport victim, who lives alone, must rank amongst the lowest of the low.

Is nothing sacred?
