Jobs set to be finally rolled out at new Mayo IDA plant

A major jobs announcement for Mayo is imminent.

In a statement issued to The Connaught Telegraph, Councillor Cyril Burke has stated that the new IDA facility on the Breaffy Road in Castlebar will be occupied in the early part of 2019.

There have been a number of visits by representatives of a company and IDA officials during the latter half of 2018.

The state-of-the-art unit will be home to a biomedical/technology firm involved in manufacturing.

The new jobs to be rolled out will be broad-ranging, including senior management, IT, marketing, HR and manufacturing.

Councillor Burke said the development, when officially announced, will greatly add to the IDA park, where Fort Wayne Metals is already building a new factory close to where Baxter Healthcare have made a major investment in purchasing and upgrading the unoccupied APC factory.

The Fine Gael representative said it was a major advantage to have the new facility ready for occupation when the company was making its decision.

Councillor Burke, who has been a keen lobbyist for jobs, is also aware that there will be further jobs announcements for Castlebar during 2019, one of which could be very significant.
