Fine Gael to run four candidates in Ballina area

FINE Gael will run four candidates in Ballina electoral area in next May's local elections, it has been learned.

It means outgoing councillors Jarlath Munnelly and John O'Hara will be joined on the ticket by newcomers Aileen Horkan, Ballina, and Kieran Gill, Crossmolina.

The four-strong team will be ratified at next Friday's selection convention.

Meanwhile it has been confirmed that a former Mayor of Castlebar, Noreen Heston, has withdrawn from contesting the party's selection convention in Castlebar on Sunday.
