Ballinrobe street works to start in coming weeks

IMPROVEMENT works on Ballinrobe's Bridge Street will commence in the coming weeks.

Local Councillors Patsy O'Brien and Damien Ryan have committed significant funding for the project.

Councillor O'Brien, on his Facebook page over the weekend, said the works will include putting power lines underground, painting of the street, as well as new lighting which will be attached to the buildings.

He said: “In this regard, funding of €30,000 has been set aside by Mayo County Council and us local councillors. Hopefully the painting will be done in March and April once the lines have been grounded.

This will be a big improvement to the street which has been a source of consternation in the town.”

Councillor Ryan, on his Facebook page, said the regeneration of Bridge Street was good news, with himself and his council colleague having committed significant funding in partnership with the council executive.

The funding, he said, 'paves the way for the business community, Ballinrobe Tidy Towns, and the property owners and residents to set in place the long discussed transformation for this end of town'.
