Search resumes at Lough Mask for missing Mayo angler

THE search has resumed this morning at Lough Mask for a local angler missing since Friday.

The man, aged in his 70s, failed to return from a day's fishing on the lake and the alarm was raised.

An extensive search took place on Saturday involving the Corrib/Mask Search and Rescue, Sligo Coastguard, Rescue 118, Inland Fisheries, the Grainne Uaile Sub Aqua Unit, local fishermen and members of An Garda Siochana.

A boat was found during the course of the search, it was widely reported.

However poor weather conditions hampered the search.

A new search operation is underway today and it will continue to focus on the Ballinrobe and Cushlough areas of the lake.

As was the case yesterday, search conditions are very difficult.
