Aidan O'Shea has been voted GAA.ie Footballer of the Week

MAYO'S Aidan O'Shea has been voted footballer of the week following his five-star perfromance against Kerry in round six of the Allianz National Football League in Tralee last Saturday night.

The Mayo star earned 6,368 votes on the Official GAA Instagram page with Corofin's Martin Farragher second and Tyrone's Cathal McShane third.

GAA.ie Footballer of the Week: 1, Aidan O'Shea (Mayo) 6,368 votes; 2, Martin Farragher (Corofin) 5,297 votes; 3, Cathal McShane (Tyrone) 4,234 votes.

Aidan O'Shea enjoyed a productive outing against Kerry where his towering display in the middle of the field helped greatly to Mayo's magnificent victory over previously unbeaten Kerry.

The Breaffy clubman was hugely influential for James Horan's team, who hope to secure a place in the final next weekend.

For the second year in a row Martin Farragher was in great AIB All Ireland Club final day form.

Farragher notched four sweet points from play as Corofin retained the title with a convincing victory over Dr Crokes.

Cathal McShane caused Dublin plenty of problems in Saturday's Allianz Football League Division 1 clash at Croke Park.

McShane scored 1-4 and his ability to win possession throughout helped Tyrone considerably.

Players of the Week are decided based on votes cast by followers of the Official GAA Instagram page.
