Mayo GAA to appoint chief commercial manager

THE Mayo GAA County Board is set to appoint a full-time chief commercial manager after an advertisment for the position was posted by the county board this afternoon.

Such is Mayo's high profile within the GAA, appointing a commercial manager to deal with the ongoing boards multi-millon euro annual budget has been mooted for some time.

Now Mayo GAA County Board having a commercial manager to deal with an ever increasing major sporting organising is set to become a reality.

The person appointed to this new position is expected to be charged with liaising with sponsors and mainly generating new income streams to fund coaching and footballing and hurling squads.

Those seeking the position will have two weeks to apply and it expected interviews for the job will take place shortly afterwards.

The new Mayo GAA commercial manager, who is expected to announced at the end of April or early May, will be one of the few commercial managers employed directly by GAA county boards.

Mayo GAA County Committee represents 48 clubs, membership approaching 25,000 and massively supported teams at all levels across all codes. The primary objective of Mayo GAA is to promote and develop Gaelic games at every level from recreational clubs and schools’ competitions through to Mayo’s elite teams in national competitions.

In order to develop and implement a new commercial and marketing strategy, Mayo GAA County Committee are seeking a Chief Commercial Officer to lead the commercial development of one of the top GAA Counties in Ireland.

The successful applicant will be responsible for enhancing relationships with sponsors and will manage all branding of our games and other events. Based in Castlebar, this is a senior position reporting directly to the Mayo GAA county chairperson.
