€225,000 for Westport harbour projects

A €225,000 investment is being made at Westport Quay.

Minister Michael Ring has today announced funding of €225,000 has been approved to assist Mayo County Council undertake and complete development and repair projects at The Quay.

A new slipway will involve a €112,500 investment, with a similar figure allocated for a new pontoon and gangway at Westport Quay.

Minister Ring said both Fine Gael local election candidates, Councillor Tereasa McGuire and candidate Peter Flynn, had lobbied him with regard to funding for the works, highlighting how important this infrastructure is for the locals as well as the many tourists to Westport.

“I am delighted with today’s announcement of funding. This is a good news day for Westport and hopefully the work will commence shortly,” he said.
