Passing of widely respected Mayo photographer

THE death has taken place at his residence, in the loving care of his family, of Liam Lyons, Rosswood, West Road, Westport.

One of Ireland's foremost press and landscape photographers, news of his passing is widely mourned in the community at large.

A significant proportion of his vast collection of work is stored in the archives of Mayo County Library for public viewing.

He is survived by his wife Mabel, daughters Fidelma and Fionnuala, brother Fr. Fintan O.S.B., sons-in-law Jeremy and Seamus, grandchildren Leon and Lucy, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

His remains will be reposing at his residence on Holy Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

Removal on Good Friday from his residence to arrive at St. Mary's Church, Westport, at 11.30 a.m. for service at 12.30 p.m.

Burial takes place afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery, Westport.

Mass of the Resurrection takes place on Easter Monday at 12.30 p.m.
