Minister Ring to open €24m. Mayo facilities

THE Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring will officially open two Castlebar facilities on Friday that cost €24 million to build.

He will cut the tape at the new 70-bedroom complex at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar at 11 a.m. before performing a similar function at the new leisure centre at Lough Lannagh.

The projects, which cost €12 million each, were sanctioned during Castlebar Fine Gael TD Enda Kenny's term as Taoiseach.

The hospital project was provided in order to ensure the centre received a HIQA standard rating into the future while the leisure complex replaces an outdated swimming pool at Humbert Way in the county town.
