Concern over neglect of ancient Mayo monument

A PUBLIC meeting is to be held to highlight the neglect of the ancient Bohea Stone in Westport.

It takes place in the Sheebeen, Rosbeg, Westport, on Monday night, May 20.

According to the organisers, the Friends of the Bohea Stone, the condition of this very important stone is 'a disgrace to all the people of Ireland and a total lack of respect to our history and heritage by the State agencies'.

The monument, which lies on the route of the Tóchar Phadraig pilgimage walk, dates back to Neolithic times.
