Good news for Mayo GAA fans in New York

THE NEW York GAA board has confirmed that all Mayo fans will be accommodated at Gaelic Park on Sunday despite fears of a ticket shortage.

Board official Larry McCarthy made the announcement at a reception held in the offices of the Irish Consulate in the city ahead of the Connacht SFC preliminary round clash between New York and Mayo.

Works have been undertaken at the venue to ensure the unprecedented numbers of Mayo supporters who have travelled to the game are safely accommodated.

However, they are urged to get to the venue early to purchase their tickets.

The news has been welcomed by former Mayo player Alan Dillon.

He said the clarification comes as a relief to the many supporters who have made the journey without a ticket.
