Anger in Murrisk over 'traffic mayhem'

RESIDENTS of Murrisk are angry over illegal parking by Croagh Patrick pilgrims refusing to use a Mayo County Council car park at the foot of the Reek because of the charge involved.

They are particularly annoyed that car owners are parking in the Millennium Park in the village.

A spokesperson said: "Not only is this the site of the National Famine Monument which is recognised as consecrated land, but it is also the emergency helicopter landing site.

"What is happening on a regular basis is totally unacceptable and it is leading to traffic mayhem."
