Future of Newport Post Office looking brighter

THE future of Newport Post Office is looking more certain.

A number of applications have been received by An Post in the past week to run the service.

An Post has been making strenuous efforts to secure the future of the post office, and had readvertised the contract after failing to find a new operator.

Deadline day was last Friday and a spokesperson confirmed this that a couple of applications have been received.

They will now be looked at and the details hammered out and then a decision will be made.

The postmaster in Newport is retiring and the vacancy has been advertised a number of times.
