MAYO STYLE AWARDS 2019: Profiles of finalists in Best in Accessories category

LEADING public relations guru Lesley Emerson profiles the three finalists in Best in Accessories category of The Connaught Telegraph Mayo Style Awards at Breaffy House Resort next Friday night.

Barbara O’Flaherty, Millinery

Barbara O’Flaherty is a very talented milliner who makes beautiful bespoke headpieces ideal for weddings and race days.

She also has a huge collection of rental pieces which are perfect for a special occasion.

Barbara loves working with people and has a reputation for being very honest in her advice – she has even been known to advise someone against wearing a hat!

She is very creative and loves the outlet making bespoke headpieces offers. Barbara enjoys helping people to style their outfits for a special occasion, ensuring the entire look goes together perfectly.

She is very aware of current trends but equally conscious of what will suit each individual.

All Affairs Fancy Dress, Castlebar

All Affairs is the largest fancy dress shop in the west of Ireland and, unlike most, stays open all year round.

The Kelleher family set up the business in 2007 and sell a full range of fancy dress and accessories.

They have a large premises and showroom in Moneen, Castlebar where customers can try on costumes instead of just viewing them online and risking a poor fit.

All Affairs also incorporates an event and party hire business which specialises in catering equipment, crockery, glassware, furniture hire and much more, along with a range of fun party rentals, such as popcorn carts, candyfloss machines and giant mascots all available for short term rent.

They sell a range of party supplies, wedding accessories and disposables. All Affairs cater for every occasion, from small family get togethers to large corporate gatherings.

Laura Donnellan Millinery, Ballyhaunis

Laura Donnellan began her millinery business earlier this year in Ballyhaunis. In a remarkably short time her hard work has paid off and clients are flocking to her door.

She specialises in bespoke creations and also has a headpiece hire range.

Much of Laura’s work is for weddings; her bridesmaid crowns are particularly popular. Laura finds gift vouchers are very popular, both for brides planning their weddings and as Christmas or birthday gifts.

Laura is getting very positive feedback on fascinators and hats she has made for clearly very satisfied clients.

She provides 1:1 consultation and will travel to meet clients who can’t make it to her showroom. She is very careful to ensure a perfect fit for each piece, to ensure all day comfort for her clients.
