Lack of broadband impinging on Mayo hotel business

A LACK of broadband facilities is not helping a Mayo hotel in its efforts rebuild its business.

The Ivy Tower Hotel, formerly the Welcome Inn Hotel, reopened in in 2017 after being closed for 18 months.

But its attempts to grow its ratings and business is undermined by an absence of high speed WiFi facilities.

Proprietor Mary McHugh stated: “It's amazing that a 32-bedroom hotel in the county town is still on an old server and cannot get high quality broadband.

“There is high-fibre across the road and in Kennedy Gardens, but nothing planned for us. This is very disappointing.”
