Mayo mum's €37,000 Winning Streak

A MUM from Co. Mayo won prizes totalling €37,000 when she appeared on the National Lottery TV game show Winning Streak last Saturday. On the same evening Roscommon woman Michelle Morgan won the top prize of €500,000 on the Winning Streak wheel – the first time the top prize has been hit in nine years.

Eileen Quinlan from Kilmovee was thrilled with her total prizes worth €37,000 which included €12,000 in cash and a Renault Zoe, worth €25,000.

The weekend before, Eileen wasn’t watching Winning Streak as she was at work. She is a support worker for Western Care. While chatting with one of her users, one of her neighbours burst in saying that Eileen had been drawn to appear on Winning Streak.

They quickly put the TV on and watched the show to see at the end when it was revealed that it was indeed Eileen who would be heading to RTÉ the following week.

Eileen is married to John and this year the couple will be celebrating their 30th anniversary, having married in Rome in 1990. They met in London, where Eileen worked for 23 years, before they moved to Mayo in 2008, after their daughters were born.

They have four daughters, three of whom cheered her on from the RTÉ audience, while the other was watching online in Australia. In the audience were Aisling, Molly and Annie, while Catriona was watching from Melbourne, where she moved to just over a year ago.
