A warm tribute has been paid the deceased on the Facebook page of the Gracenotes Choir, Ballyhaunis.

It stated: "We are heartbroken that our founder member, conductor, leader and dear friend Laura Brogan has passed away peacefully.

"Laura founded Gracenotes with a group of other like minded women over 20 years ago.

"Their aim at the time was to develop choral singing in Mayo and to share their expertise with anyone who wished to learn about choral music and being part of a choir.

"Laura was at the heart of Gracenotes. Her love of music, her knowledge of choral music and her passion for choral singing was conveyed to us weekly.

"Laura managed our choir with great energy and enthusiasm. Her dedication to researching music and her unique ability to choose music for our choir was what made us what we are.

"We will always be grateful and in awe of her loyalty to us. Words cannot express how much we will miss this woman.

"She was feisty, fearless, strong, fun and above all, she was one of us. We loved her and she loved us.

"We extend our sincere sympathies to her family and her many friends. We know how much her close friends within our choir will miss her and we share your loss deeply.

"We would also like to sympathise with the members of Cois Cladaigh choir in Galway where Laura sang for many, many years.

"She was a fantastic alto singer with an innate ability to blend her voice with anyone who was privileged to sing alongside her. We also feel your loss.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis."
