Voter turnout around 40% in many parts of Mayo

VOTER turnout in the general election is running at around 40% in many parts of Mayo.

Ballina has seen the most brisk business at the polling booths so far. As of 4 p.m. today, turnout at the boys national school in the town stood at 47%, with the Sean Duffy Centre close behind on 45%.

Scoil Phadraig National School in Westport has seen a 43% turnout so far today.
