Roof blown off Mayo school by storm winds

A PRIMARY school in Mayo has shared photographs to social media of the damage caused to the roof of the building by storm winds today.

Dooagh NS, Achill, reported that nobody was hurt in the incident.

But it made the school wonder was is the criteria for "a red wind warning" for the extreme west coast of Ireland.

Ms. Irene Gielty, principal, told RTE News that while a Status Yellow wind warning was in place for Co. Mayo, the ferocity of the winds this morning seemed to be more akin to those associated with higher level warnings.
