Mayo youths aiming for national glory

THE young guns of Mayo darts will be looking to build on their recent success when they travel to Ennis this weekend for the Youth Inter-Counties Championship.

Both senior Mayo county sides will wonder what might have been as they fell to eventual champions in their respective championships (the Mayo men lost to Donegal while the Mayo ladies lost to Wexford) at the Inter-Counties Championships in Ennis last week. Now it's the turn of the youths to see if they can add silverware of their own.

Mayo will be sending two youth teams down for the event and one has already claimed glory this year. The A side beat a strong Donegal outfit West Coast Challenge in January to claim the championship and will be seen as one of the sides who can mount a serious challenge for national honours.

Gerry Daly and Mick Danagher, co-managers, will no doubt be confident they can add another title to county darts scene this weekend.

The Mayo darts committee would also like to extend thanks to Martin Geraghty once more for his kind sponsorship to the youths.
