Passing of retired Ballyhaunis Parish Priest

THE death has taken place of Very Rev Canon Joseph Cooney, retired Parish Priest of Ballyhaunis.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary and sister May O'Gara, he is sadly missed by his beloved sister Nora, nephews Jarlath, Michael, Adrian, Fergal, their wives Mary, Maria and Wendy, brother-in-Law Frank, grand nephews, grand nieces, his grace Archbishop Michael Neary, the priests of the Tuam Archdiocese, many friends and parishioners especially his great friend Leona Connery, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Requiem Mass takes place in St Patrick's Church, Ballyhaunis, on Monday, at 12 noon.

Burial takes place afterwards in the local cemetery.

May his gentle soul rest in peace. 

Please note due to HSE and government guidelines Canon Cooney's funeral will be confined to family members only.

It will be broadcast on Ballyhaunis Parish webcam and parish radio.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
