VHI customers to get premium reduction for three months

The VHI has announced customers will receive an average 50% reduction in their premium for a three month period.

This is to reflect the agreement struck between the HSE and the Private Hospitals' Association (PHA) in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The three month rebate period will be extended or curtailed depending on the duration of the agreement between the HSE and the PHA.

Different policies have different levels of private hospital cover and this is reflected in the rebate.

Most customers (80% of the Vhi membership) will get a 45% rebate.

The rebate will be applied to the equivalent of a monthly instalment and will start in mid-May.

VHI is also extending telephone and online consultations with GPs, physiotherapists, other medical professionals and Employee Assistance Programme consultants to all its customers.

The move has been welcomed by Minister for Health Simon Harris.
