Funeral arrangements for Mayo man who died in weekend traffic accident

The death has occurred at Mayo University Hospital, following a road traffic accident, of Christopher Culkeen, better known as Chris, 32 McHale Road, Castlebar, and formerly of Greenwood, Ballyhaunis.

Only son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Rita) née Finn, he was dearly loved husband of Kathleen (née Flynn) and loving father of Alan and Chrystal.

He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken wife, son, daughter, Alan's partner Sharon Walsh, his sisters Mary (Manchester), Flavia (Wales), Helen (Banbridge), Rita (Cork), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, friends and neighbours, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Chris was well known in the community. He was very involved in football and in the Mayo and District Motor Sports Club.

He worked for many years as a long distance truck driver.

May he rest in peace.

Removal from his home in McHale Road takes place on Wednesday morning to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m.

Funeral afterwards to Shannon Crematorium via McHale Road, arriving for private commital service at 2.30 p.m.

Due to the current regulations the Funeral, Mass and Cremation will be private to family only.
