Former Mayo Eircom headquarters acquired by local businessman

A Castlebar property firm, DNG Burke Connolly Maloney, has confirmed that it has acquired the former Eircom depot on the Breaffy Road for a local business man.

The complex boasts of 25,000 sq ft of high quality office space, gated security entrance, warehousing, 50 independent lockups and acres of car parking finished to a very high standard.

All external areas benefit from street lighting and the facilities are well secured with a mix of boundary walls and fencing.

The entire development sits on c.6 acres of land in an industrial/commercial zoned area, beside Castlebar Retail Park.

Cyril Burke of DNG Burke Connolly Maloney said the complex has the potential to attract hundreds of jobs to the town as it is in very good condition, having been originally built to a high standard.

He stated that in today’s terms it would cost millions of euro to develop this complex.

The fact that the facility now exists and is available for lease at an affordable cost to business is a major plus for Castlebar in attracting companies looking to locate in the west of Ireland.

The building is ideal for office workers in particular as it has large expansive offices fully kitted with category 2 cabling and electrical sockets.

Said Mr. Burke: “It could potentially be the ideal co-working hub this region requires and was mooted in the new draft county development plan by senior planners. The complex has everything required to fulfil the requirements for such a hub.

“At any rate the owners have set about the facelift that the property requires after being vacant for a period of years and have already brought about a fresh feel around the place as it will be available to lease in the coming weeks.”

The former Eircom building was home to 250 workers at its peak.
