Maurice Sheridan appointed Mayo Under 20 team manager

Mayo GAA has announced the appointment of Maurice Sheridan as the county Under 20 team manager.

A native of Balla, Sheridan succeeds Mike Solan who stepped down last October after five years in the role.

In recent times Sheridan has been in charge of the NUI Galway team, leading them to the 2018 Sigerson Cup final in which they were beaten by UCD.

As a player, Sheridan's career with Mayo last nine seasons, from 1995 until 2003, while he also played for the Mayo Under 21s.

At senior level he won three Connaught titles and a National Football League with Mayo, while his switch from Balla to Salthill-Knocknacarra in 2001 saw him win a Galway senior title in 2005 followed by Connaught and All-Ireland titles.

“Congratulations to Maurice Sheridan on being appointed as the Mayo Under 20 football manager. We at Mayo GAA would like to take this opportunity to wish Maurice and his backroom team the very best of luck for the 2021 season,” said Mayo GAA in announcing the appointment this evening.
