Planners ground south Mayo coffee production plans to a halt

PLANS to develop a coffee production unit in a premises in Claremorris previously used as a warehouse have been turned down by Mayo County Council.

The proposed location for the unit was at Kilmacanally, Farmhill, Claremorris, and the applicant was Michael McGowan.

Issues raised in refusing permission included the development not being considered a rural enterprise but located in a rural area and on unzoned lands. There was also a concern about the risk of flooding.

Details about traffic volumes were not submitted, and planners required more details about the disposing of waste from coffee processing.

No objections were received in relation to the proposal.
