National distinction for north Mayo soccer club

A THIRD Mayo soccer club has received a distinction from the Football Association of Ireland.

In recognition of best practice in the governance, management, and administration of a football club, Kilmurry Youth Soccer have been awarded the FAI Club Mark, joining Castlebar Celtic and Achill Rovers among the recipients.

The aims of the FAI Club Mark are to establish minimum operating criteria for football clubs, provide clubs with a road map to good governance, management and administration, support clubs on their journey, reward clubs for achieving and maintaining high standards, provide recognition to clubs for their commitment and achievements, and increase club’s capacity to operate effectively and grow football in communities throughout Ireland.

“Thank you to everyone who has made this possible - our players, parents and guardians, coaches, committee members and supporters” said the club in a statement on its social media pages.

The Club Mark award will be presented at a later date
