Autumn start for new overpass on N17

WORK to eliminate an accident blackspot on the N17 is due to start this autumn.

An overpass will replace the Lisduff junction outside Claremorris.

The start date – in September or October – was confirmed by Councillor Richard Finn, cathaoirleach, at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council.

Acknowledging the work of the roads office, management and council colleagues, he said this was a major investment in the health and safety of the area and wider region, considering the amount of traffic and loss of life at the location.
