Mayo Greens propose Tirawley greenway

THE Mayo Greens have proposed a Tirawley greenway be developed in north Mayo.

The route is included in the Greens' submission to Mayo County Council on the draft county development plan 2021-27.

The greenway would link the villages of Tirawley in north Mayo through the provision of an off road walk/cycle way linking the Céide fields and Ballycastle through Moygownagh, Crossmolina, Laherdane, Bofeenaun, Pontoon, Knockmore, Killala, Lacken and back to Ballycastle again.

Said the submission: 'It would be a major tourism attraction in this beautiful part of the county and also bring parishes and communities of this under-utilised tourist region together through a linked visitor trail.'
