Horan remains coy on injured Mayo duo

Mayo senior football manager James Horan remained non-committal about Oisin Mullin and Eoghan McLaughlin making an appearance in the All-Ireland SFC final on September 11.

The Connaught Telegraph reported earlier this week that Mullin is on course for an early return from a quad injury he sustained in training prior to Mayo's All-Ireland semi-final win over Dublin and is now expected to return to training ahead of the decider.

At a Mayo football media conference earlier today at Hastings MacHale Park, Horan said his rehab was 'going well' but didn't put a timeframe on the return of the 2020 Young Footballer of the Year.

"Genuinely don't know. He's rehabbing with the medical team and it's going well but with some of those injuries - it could be six, eight, 10 weeks. It depends on the player. Some respond quicker than others."

Westport's Eoghan McLaughlin suffered a double jaw fracture in the semi-final following a collision with Dublin's John Small.

On McLaughlin, Horan confirmed he had his surgery and was at training last night (Wednesday).

"Certainly, it was brilliant to see him. He's a great character. He was there, in great form and up and about. He's on his stationary bike spinning. I didn't say anything to him yet, but I never write young guys out of anything, to be honest."

In more good news, there are no fresh injuries concerns following the semi-final last weekend.

"Trained last night (Wednesday)," said Horan. "A few had knocks and bangs but overall, for a game of that intensity, we came through pretty okay."
