Mayo fitness coach and sportswear brand team up with Miss Earth Ireland

A MAYO fitness coach will be working as personal trainer to Miss Earth Ireland in the run up to the world finals in the Philippines.

Siobhan Darocha is owner of Flame Fit Gym in Westport and is also behind sportswear brand Gym & Ink, who have recently launched a new ethical collection of organic gym wear.

As official partners of Miss Earth Ireland, Siobhan is the official personal trainer of the pageant's finalists. Gym & Ink are sportswear partners for the competition whose mission is 'beauties for a cause', promoting environmental awareness, conservation, sustainability and social responsibility, setting a legacy of beauty and responsibility.

Castlebar was the venue for the All-Ireland final, held in the Royal Theatre, where, from 23 finalists from all over the country, including Mayo, Dublin's Brownyn O'Connell was crowned Miss Earth Ireland. She now goes on to the world final in the Philippines in a few months' time.

Mayo participants included Laura Kelly, a dental nurse in Westport, sponsored by Horkan’s Garden Centre, and Caroline Zoe Dooley, sponsored by William Barrett Coach Hire, a beauty therapist and make-up artist.

Bronwyn (27) says her main focus with Miss Ireland Earth is to educate not just her own generation but future generations about the simple things we must do to protect Mother Earth.

Throughout her journey, she's working closely with Keep Dublin Clean, an organisation that cleans beaches and surrounding areas.

As a flight attendant, and constantly flying around the world, Bronwyn will use this platform to educate people on how to make their flying journey a more sustainable and earth-friendly one, with a goal of a carbon-free aviation sector by 2050.

Siobhan will be her official fitness coach in the lead up to the world finals and Brownyn is now also working as ambassador for Gym & Ink clothing. Being a campaign model is among her competition prizes, which includes other sponsorship opportunities and a modelling contract with Catwalk Models.

Gym & Ink were a natural fit for the ethos of the competition. Since their inception they have partnered with One Tree Planted, an environmental charity who plant trees worldwide. For every item of clothing they sell, Gym & Ink donate to the charity, who are also charity partners for the Miss Earth competition.

Said Siobhan: "The Miss Earth Ireland pageant is unique in that it places a strong emphasis on environmental issues, which Bronwyn is an incredible advocate for. She is a fabulous spokesperson and role model.

"I have so much respect for all of the finalists who have been working raising awareness and education around climate change and important environmental issues while supporting so many local businesses.

"It's been so much fun and we are honoured to be in a position to support this important organisation and events as official fitness and sportswear partners and fitness mentor."

Miss Earth Ireland is run by directors Erin De Burca, a successful model signed to Mandy Maher's Catwalk Modelling Agency, radio host and journalist Alan Murphy, and marketing experts Denis Finbarr Cronin and Gareth Dunleavy who came together with a vision to make Miss Earth Ireland a pageant with a difference.
