Mayo TD details progress on Breaffy village traffic calming

Fine Gael TD for Mayo, Alan Dillon, has learned that relevant surveying to progress the N60 traffic calming project at Breaffy village is concluding and it is now likely the Part 8 planning will likely to be published around mid-March.

Last year, Mayo County Council appointed consultants to undertake the relevant topographical works. These works took longer than anticipated but are now concluding and should allow the next step of Part 8 planning being published and go for approval.

Deputy Dillon said: “I welcomed the appointment of consultants by Mayo County Council last year to undertake the relevant topographical works for the N60 traffic calming at Breaffy. These topographical surveying works took longer than anticipated but are now concluding and should allow the next step of Part 8 planning being published and to go for approval. It was important these survey works were done as it is required to finalise a design and the land take of the project.”

He added: “With these surveying works nearing conclusion, it is now likely that the Part 8 planning will be published around mid-March and go for approval.

“In addition, a safety assessment in relation to the access/exit from the N60 to the vaccination centre in Breaffy House Hotel has been undertaken. This is particularly important in light of the fatal road traffic collision on this stretch of road over the Christmas period.”
