Mayo mourns death of Doris Calleary

THE death has occurred of Doris Calleary, Quay Road, Ballina.

She was wife of the late TD Sean Calleary, and mother of John, Conall, Dara (Dáil Deputy) and Síofra.

A well known lady in local and national political circles, Doris was very successful in her own right, running a business, Look Around Gift Boutique, on Pearse Street in the late 1970s and '80s.

She was involved in many local organisations such as Western Care Association, the Moy Singers, Ballina Rugby Club, Daffodil Day among others.

She was also heavily involved in Fianna Fáil election campaigns at both local and national level.

A native of Easkey, Doris is deeply regretted by her loving family, grandchildren Laura, David and Anna, son-in-law John, daughters-in-law Trish and Siobhan, brother Eamon Brogan, sister-in-law Mary, nieces Ciara, Aoife and Dearbhla, grandnephews, grandnieces, carers, cousins, relatives and friends.

She will be reposing at McGowan's Funeral Home, Ballina, on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. The funeral cortege will arrive to St. Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina, on Saturday for Requiem Mass at 12.30 p.m. followed by burial in Leigue Cemetery, Ballina.
