Woman hailed after rescuing swimmer off Mayo beach

A local woman who rescued a male swimmer who got in difficulties off Mulranny beach yesterday evening has been hailed for her efforts.

The courageous act was reported by Achill Island Coast Guard on its Facebook page.

It outlined: "A local woman bravely rescued the swimmer from the water and the alarm was raised.

"On scene our team administered first aid, assisted the GP and the casualty was then stretchered across the beach to the awaiting National Ambulance Service (NAS) ambulance.

"Wishing the swimmer a speedy recovery and thanks to all involved in the rescue. Well done."

People who commented on the post were full of praise for the young woman for her actions.
