Mayo school wins nationwide Christmas Carol competition

Ireland’s leading independent hearing healthcare company, Audiology Medical Services, have announced that Templemary National School in Killala as the winners of their nationwide online Christmas carol school competition.

Their prize as winners is a massive €1,000 for their school.

The competition was open to all primary schools across the country, and speaking on the announcement of the winning school, chief operating officer of Audiology Medical Service, Kay Lewis, said: “This is our third year running this competition, almost an annual tradition at this stage, and we were blown away with the record number of entries received again this year.”

Over the last week, the public voted for their favourite performances out of the 12 finalists selected from schools in Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Galway, Kildare, Dublin, Donegal, Westmeath and of course Mayo.

In the end, Mayo’s Templemary National School came out on top with their performance of ‘Silent Night’ which included the students playing an instrumental introduction, and singing in German, Irish and English while also using lámh.

Jarlath Dunford, the principal of the winning school, said: “The whole school and indeed community were buzzing with excitement when we heard we had won the competition.

"We are all thrilled and so grateful to Audiology Medical Services for this amazing prize”.

Kay Lewis of Audiology Medical Services added: “All 12 finalists were amazing and they are all winners in our eyes, but there had to be one winner and we are all delighted for Templemary National School."
