Mayo community radio station appoints new manager

DANNY Coffey has been appointed the new station manager for Castlebar radio station CRCfm.

Coffey, a native of North Queensland and living in Castlebar since the mid-noughties, first joined the station in 2017 through a TUS course and has been working directly for them ever since.

After a number of years as a plasterer in Dublin, he went to college at GMIT, studying history and geography before joining CRCfm.

He has plenty of experience with the station from doing documentaries, productions and various behind the scenes operations.

Speaking on his appointment, Danny said: “I’m looking forward to it and putting my own stamp on things.”

On his future plans for the station, Danny said he hoped to get more people involved from the community and get younger people with an interest in broadcasting, DJing or production in the station and more training courses.

“The tech is getting simpler to use.

“It’s about getting people trained up and contributing,” said Danny.
