There was tremendous excitement at Ireland West Airport Knock today with the first ever arrival of a president of the United States of America to the facility.

President Joe Biden arrived in Air Force One from Dublin Airport as he began his visit to his ancestral home of Mayo, the highlight of which will be a speech at St. Muredach's Cathedral, Ballina, at around 9 p.m. this evening.

President Biden was greeted on arrival by Michael Ring, TD, H.E. Geraldine Byrne Nason, Ambassador of Ireland to the United States, Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications and Minister for Transport Mr. Eamon Ryan T.D. and Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation Dara Calleary TD, and Councillor Seamus Weir, cathaoirleach, Mayo County Council.
