Plans for glamping pods on Mayo island approved

A SMALL glamping pods development in Achill has been given the green light by planners.

The four one-bedroom pods will be located at Bellanasally in Keel.

They will be located at the rear of the applicant's home and run as a family business.

In the application to Mayo County Council, it was submitted that the applicants were proposing the development to cater for the much-needed tourism market in glamping in Achill, providing sustainable tourist accommodation. It will cater for families and couples.

The site is 1.5 kilometres east of Keel village.

Planners, in their report, found the development would not result in an adverse impact on the visual amenity of the area.
