Mayo media star Simon Atkins presents new series on Amazon Prime

Castlebar native Simon Atkins is presenter and co-producer of a brand new six-part entrepreneurial series, ‘Ready Set Startup,’ which will air on Amazon Prime Video from Wednesday next, May 17.

The show sees contestants battle it out in a series of high stake, high intensity challenges, designed to push them to their limits as they compete for a £100,000 investment into their own business.

The series was launched last night at a star-studded event at The May Fair Hotel, London, hosted by Pictures in Motion.

The attendance included UK's most popular athlete Dame Kelly Holmes, radio presenter Zoe Hardman, Great British Bake Off Winner Candice Brown, actress Laura Pradelska, new Big Brother presenter Will Best, Sky News presenter Sarah Jane Mee, broadcaster Pips Taylor comedian/actress Samantha Baines and film director Erica Bergsmeds.

Stated Simon: "This is a hugely exciting new series that highlights the steps and challenges required to launch a startup business, offering these ambitious young entrepreneurs the tools and guidance to make their businesses a thriving success.

"In the current, uncertain economic climate, it offers the contestants and viewers a true insight into the highs and lows of becoming a successful entrepreneur."

A son of Philip and Joan Atkins, The Curragh, Castlebar, Simon is a graduate of UCD and previously worked for RTÉ, ITV and BBC 3 as he built his successful media career.

He played tennis with distinction during his youth in Castlebar.
