Approval sought for water sports facility on popular Mayo beach

PROPOSALS for a facility centre for water sports activities at Keel, on Achill Island, have moved to planning stage.

Mayo County Council is seeking approval from An Bord Pleanála for the development. Similar to an already approved facility in Carrowmore, near Louisburgh, the proposed centre will have toilet, shower and changing room facilities, as well as storage.

Approval for the Achill centre has to come from An Bord Pleanála as it is located in an SAC.

Submissions from members of the public can be made directly to the board.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development, including a Natura Impact Statement, are now available for viewing online at https://consult.mayo.ie until Friday, July 7.
