Passing of popular member of Mayo business family

The death has taken place of Ciarán Duffy, Blackfort, Castlebar, a member of a widely-known and respected Mayo business family.

He died peacefully at University College Hospital Galway earlier today surrounded by his loved ones.

Predeceased by his parents Cathal and Philomena Duffy, Rathbawn Road, Castlebar, he was proprietor of Duffy's Garage, Spencer Street, Castlebar.

News of his passing has evoked a sense of great loss in the town where he was held in high regard.

He was a long-serving member of the Castlebar Fianna Fáil Cumann.

Ciarán will be dearly missed by his heartbroken partner Ala, his children Sarah and Charles, sisters Fionnuala, Mary and Niamh, brothers Iarla and Cathal, their partners Pádraig, Regina, John and Mike, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and many good friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Friday evening from 5 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to his family home. (House private please).

Funeral will arrive to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Saturday morning at 10.45 a.m for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m followed by burial in Aughagower Cemetery.
