A new business is due to open at the former Elverys Sports outlet at Hopkins Road, Castlebar.

Triple boost for Mayo county town's commercial sector is imminent

Three new commercial outlets are set to open in Castlebar town centre over the coming weeks, The Connaught Telegraph has learned.

Works have been carried out at the former offices of The Connaught Telegraph, Cavendish Lane, to pave the way for a new business.

Works have also been taking place at the Mulroy's premises, Main Street, and the former Elverys Sports at Hopkins Road outlet ahead of the launch of new enterprises at both properties.

The full details in respect of each of the three investments has not yet been confirmed to date, but they will be officially announced in the near future.

When fully operational, the three businesses will further confirm Castlebar as the leading shopping town in the region.

The town has seen the closure of a number of shops since the Covid-19 pandemic while Argos is due to close towards the end of June.
