Mayo Cancer Support rolls out wonderful winter programme
Mayo Cancer Support is excited to roll out an eclectic programme of free activities for winter 2023/24.
Based at Rock Rose House – located opposite Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar – Mayo Cancer Support has been providing emotional support to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis or a cancer-related bereavement for over 20 years.
The registered charity also operates outreach clinics in Ballina every Tuesday and in Achill on the third Thursday of every month.
Its core services include professional one-to-one counselling, complementary therapies and a drop-in listening service.
This week sees the rollout of its winter 2023/2024 programme, which comprises the core services and a variety of additional classes delivered in a group setting.
All of these services are available to anyone that has been affected either directly or indirectly by a cancer diagnosis or bereavement and are free of charge.
Highlights of the charity’s winter programme of events include a programme of compassion-based mindfulness classes running for five weeks until December 19 and a series of weekly Tai Chi/Qigong classes commencing on Tuesday, January 16, from 11 a.m.
On Tuesday, January 16, at 7 p.m., Mayo Cancer Support will host a free introductory workshop on the Enneagram – a model of human psychology and personality theory, that is based on the idea that each person has a unique and innate personality structure or 'essence' that shapes the way they see the world and themselves.
Mayo Cancer Support offers a range of children’s services delivered by staff with expertise in the area of therapy for little ones. These services include professional one-to-one play therapy and art therapy. Counselling can also be facilitated for teenagers and young adults impacted by cancer.
Meanwhile, Mayo Cancer Support can confirm that its annual Mass will be celebrated at its headquarters, Rock Rose House (32 St. Patrick’s Avenue, Castlebar), on Thursday, November 23, at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
