Supporters urged to park smart for Mayo-Dublin match this evening

MAYO County Council have called on Mayo and Dublin supporters to park smart if they are attending the big match in Castlebar this evening.

With thousands of supporters expected to descend on Hastings Insurance MacHale Park for the clash between the two counties, which throws-in at 7.30 p.m., Mayo County Council has urged fans to park safely and in safe locations.

Parking around Hastings Insurance MacHale Park is limited and there will be no public parking in An Sportlann car park.

Patrons are advised to arrive early and obey all garda instructions and stewards on duty inside and outside the grounds.

All supporters are asked to obey all byelaws and show consideration for local residents when parking.

Parking by supporters along the N5 is not recommended for health and safety reasons. Mayo County Council encourage supporters to avail of the ample car parking spaces in Castlebar and walk the short distance to the ground.

Motorists are also advised that an extensive garda roads policing operation is taking place throughout this St. Brigid’s bank holiday weekend until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6.

An Garda Síochána and the Mayo Road Safety Office are appealing to motorists to drive safely and without distraction this bank holiday weekend.

Bank holiday weekends are one of the busiest periods on Irish roads, and they are also one of the periods where road users are at the highest risk of being involved in a fatal or serious road traffic collision.

Across the weekend, An Garda Síochána will be focusing on the four lifesaver offences: intoxicated driving, speeding, use of mobile phones and seatbelt offences.
