New Mayo politics podcast launched by The Connaught Telegraph

The Connaught Telegraph is proud to announce the launch of its brand new politics podcast, "All Ireland Whingers."

The show is presented by broadcaster Aidan Crowley alongside journalist Caoimhín Rowland.

2024 is set to be the mother and father of all elections, with the local and European elections scheduled for less than two months. A new Minister for Mayo is also discussed in the latest episode as Alan Dillon assumes office in a new-look Fine Gael.

Speculation is rife over the future of Michael Ring and MEP Luke 'Ming' Flanagan as well as rumblings over future departures from government buildings and when a general election is most likely.

Mayo has two declared candidates for the European Parliament elections, Maria Walsh MEP and Lisa Chambers, leader of Seanad Éireann, and they will battle it out for a seat in Brussels.

The people of Mayo will also be tasked with electing 30 councillors on June 7. Fianna Fáil and Independents currently control power in Mayo County Council and have done so for 10 years. It will be fascinating to see if there is a change there after the votes are counted.

Local issues remain integral to "All Ireland Whingers": The Mayo politics podcast, addressing problems arising from local public meetings, like the fiasco surrounding the Castlebar Educate Together national school, and the future of the peace park and IPAS centres mooted for north Mayo.

You can listen to the podcast for free on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and there are 8 episodes to feast upon.

If you enjoy the show, please spread the word and tell family or friends to get the word out there.
